Winter is fast approaching and one way to keep out the draughts and colds is with a new front door but which one.
What alternatives other than wooden are available-
• Aluminium doors are durable and long lasting prone to tarnishing of the metal and the material itself does not lend itself to many of the styles the average customer now demands.
• UPVC in its various forms has been the material of choice for a number of years, a good range of durable doors, a limited choice of colours which also tend to fade and in many instances and possibly the biggest detraction not as secure as one would like them to be.
• Composite doors as the name suggests are made from a number of products compressed foam polyurethane or bonded hardwood core set in reinforced timber frame (both of which have excellent thermal and sound resisting qualities) covered with UPVC or Thermo plastic skins and that’s just the door and as the door are engineered as a complete component the fit between door and frame is precise i.e.no draughts
There can only be one choice for the discerning purchaser. So why composite, there are many brands available but at Timber Composite Door we only supply quality doors they all come from the Solidor range –of doors or their Italia Collection and all are manufactured to exacting factory standards and must comply with stringent quality control criteria and comply with the requirements of both “Secured by design” and PAS 24 which involves independent testing by third parties.
Composite External Doors are available in virtually any style that you wish and they will always look good as the only maintenance required is a wipe with a damp cloth and your door will stay looking good for its lifespan (estimated at 30 years) somewhat different to the constant need for redecoration associated with timber doors which if not correctly maintained are subject to eventual rot and decay thereby limiting their effective lifespan.
One of the main reasons we teamed with Solidor to market their doors through our Timber Composite Doors web site is that apart from being very impressed with their doors we were even more impressed with their ECO credentials. It’s all there in the brochure, in their words, not ours, they have long prided themselves on their ECO credentials as they are one of the few suppliers to manufacture composite doors with a solid and fully sustainable hardwood core, as they themselves state in their advertising anyone can feel the difference when they take the “Knock Knock” test, which gives “the feel of a Solidor.”

These doors are guaranteed to add sophistication and style with a total of 39 styles twenty nine of which are from the exclusive Italia Range the range of colours available for the majority of door styles is truly extensive, seventeen, many of which are industry firsts such as Mocha, Rich Aubergine, Chartwell Green, Duck Egg Blue and French Grey, add to this a huge range of accessories there is something for everyone.
Composite External Doors that tick all the boxes, that’s what you get when you purchase your new door from Timber Composite Door
