June 23rd<\/sup><\/p>\n

The date is set the arguments have started and we can all look forward to a four-month period of truths, mistruths, lies and damned lies until a final decision is made or not as the case maybe dependent upon whom one actually believes.<\/p>\n

It can all be quite well summed up in the words of the chorus of an old rock ballad by the \u201cClash\u201d from way back in 1982 \u2013<\/p>\n

An\u2019 if I stay it will be double<\/em><\/p>\n

So come on and let me know\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Change the \u201cI\u201d to \u201cwe\u201d and it pretty much sums up what the politicians are saying on both sides of the argument are saying \u2013 for those who have forgotten this Clash classic<\/a> its here in a U tube clip.<\/p>\n

The in \/ out argument is most definitely a hot conversation topic and one which is clearly of great concern to everyone but one of the less recorded comments that seems to be going the rounds is \u201cif politicians whom we elect to make these decisions cannot decide, how can we the public who have limited knowledge of the facts make a decision\u201d<\/p>\n

Here at GFD HQ we have another major issue with the referendum which will never be discussed at Parliamentary level but which will impact on companies such as our Timber Composite Doors<\/a> on line web site ad any other company who has followed a similar marketing policy- it is a thorny issue and one of national significance (at least to us it is)<\/p>\n

We as many companies have, have adopted the names of foreign cities for the doors within our Solidor Italia Collection which for the present is fine \u2013 we are all part of the big \u201cEuropean Gang\u201d but what if the vote is to leave the EU. We at GFD HQ as would many others will be faced with a dilemma \u2013 do we show our allegiance to an out vote by changing the name of our Italia Collection and abandoning the Italian city names replacing them with patriotic English alternatives, or do we leave the status quo exactly the same.<\/p>\n

The English Collection does not have quite the same romantic feel as the Italia Collection and the \u201cManchester\u201d (no disrespect intended to any Mancunians) does not cut it quite the way the Milano does \u2013 or the Grimsby (as last but Grimsby dwellers) for the Genoa \u2013 the images are shown below<\/p>\n

We are well aware that there are some wonderfully descriptive and romantic names in the UK we have in fact used many of them in our basic range \u2013 The Harlech, The Windsor, the Stafford etc all sound great but \u2013<\/p>\n

The Carlisle for the Como<\/p>\n

The Barnsley for the Biella<\/p>\n

The Fulham for the Florence etc<\/p>\n

all excellent towns or cities but not quite with the romantic ring of their Italian counterparts.<\/p>\n

Thankfully we have four months to plan for a plan B should we need one \u2013 watch this space for further developments.<\/p>\n
