While we accept that this article was written some four years ago has anything changed <i>\u2013 our comments \/observations are in italics.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 1 \u2013 Go for a loft conversion \u2013 <i>modern homes with lightweight roof trusses do not really lend themselves to this option.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 2 \u2013 Build a Conservatory \u2013 <i>if you have the garden space and many modern homes do not<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 3 \u2013 Install a basement conversion \u2013 <i>the neighbours may not be too pleased about this one<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 4 \u2013 Get rid of the Garage \u2013 <i>and watch your motor insurance premiums go up.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 5 \u2013 Take aim at your target (your prospective buyer) \u2013<i>in most modern homes space is a premium and gym\u2019s and offices are a luxury rather than a necessity<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 6 \u2013 pave over your front garden \u2013 <i>frowned upon in many areas as a source of flooding and not practical on many estates without pavements <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 7 \u2013 Paint the house \u2013 <i>as many modern homes come complete with UPVC windows and fascias and soffits there is very little left to paint <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 8 \u2013 Change the windows \u2013 <i>possibly but as most new UPVC modern windows have a lifespan of 30 plus years not really practical<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 9 \u2013 Refurbish the front door \u2013 <i>WHY STOP A BIT OF NEW HARDWARE \u2013 REPLACE THE DOOR WITH A NEW COMPOSITE DOOR FROM ONE OF THE GFD GROUP OF COMPANIES AND YOU ARE GUARANTEED AN INCREASE IN YOUR PROPERTY VALUE.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 10 \u2013 Hang mirrors on the walls \u2013 <i>and do you move the mirrors when you move ????<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 11 \u2013Concentrate on the kitchen \u2013 <i>nice if you can do it but the key is in getting the right kitchen for the value of the property and with many modern homes having small kitchens options are limited.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 12 \u2013 Knock down the walls \u2013 <i>not really practical in a modern home and in many instances the builder had the same idea in designing the home and maximised the use of minimum space<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 13 \u2013 Do the bathroom next \u2013<i>if you already have a modern suite and tiling how soon do you think about renovations <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 14 \u2013 Put in central heating \u2013 <i>the majority of new homes already have it.<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 15 \u2013 Don\u2019t bother with the bedrooms \u2013 other than soft furnishings? <i>Where is the increased value here? <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 16 \u2013 Look above your head (storage in ceiling voids) \u2013<i>is there any other than lofts in modern houses?<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 17 \u2013 Bring the garden into the house (new glass doors etc) \u2013 we agree FRENCH DOORS \/ PATIO DOORS WILL CERTAINLY INCREASE THE PROPERTY VALUE AND IN MANY CIRCUMSTANCES THE INSTALLATION IS NOT AS COMPLICATED AS YOU MAY FEAR.<\/p>\n<p>Tip 18 \u2013 Apply for planning permission \u2013 <i>but only if you have money to burn<\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 19 \u2013 Phone a friend (to find a good builder) \u2013 <i>we agree AND WHEN IT COMES TO INSTALLATUION OF OUR DOORS WE REFER ALL OF OUR CUSTOMERS TO <\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/s.trustpilot.com\/TPElements\/BoxPopup?domainId=1029756&amp;locale=en-GB&amp;include1Star=False&amp;include2Star=False&amp;include3Star=False&amp;include4Star=True&amp;include5Star=True&amp;showSelectedRatings=True\"><i>TRUST PILOT<\/i><\/a><i> independent references for all of our installations <\/i><\/p>\n<p>Tip 20 &#8211;
